Dance Academy
The Beauchamp Dance Academy plays an effective role in the long-term development of young talented performers and identifies potential talent in targeted areas thus providing the highest coaching and performance support. It formed three years ago and balances technical training with creative activities, ensuring students experience a holistic dance training programme.
Throughout the academic year the students experience a range of styles and technique’s as well as the opportunity to choreograph and perform in house and at public venues. This year the groups have performed in Leicester’s Best Dance Crew, Mass Movement 2010, Beauchamp’s Got Talent, U.dance regional final at Curve Theatre, East Midlands Dance Festival and many more.
The Dance Academy students are able to take part in one off workshops from visiting artists and each term the dance department arranges a theatre trip to broaden the students’ awareness of the diverse range of dance styles. Generic sports science support sessions are also provided to all of Beauchamp College’s academies, which include mental preparation, nutrition, and long-term athletic development.
The Academy is split into two companies:
The Contemporary Company
The Contemporary Company meets on a Monday evening for 2 hours of practical and technical training. The students who make up the company are from Year 9 to Year 13 and are chosen from an audition, which is held annually.
Anonymous
Anonymous is a street/hip-hop company available for sixth form students, which meets on a Thursday morning for 2 hours as part of an enrichment programme.
Beauchamp College offers dance at GCSE and A level as well as the Dance Academy and numerous extra curricular opportunities in our state of the art studios for Dance and Production use.
