LDD
Introduction
We are a friendly department that provides learning support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Our staff support individuals and small groups in classes, as well as one-to-one, and encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning by working towards short-term targets. We also work with students for whom English is an additional language (EAL). We are all about building confidence and skills that will help our students throughout their lives… and having fun in the process!
Access Arrangements
LDD is also the department that deals with Access Arrangements (PDF) for exams and students will usually come here to be tested to see if they are eligible. We aim to keep parents informed of their children’s progress through the process of creating Individual Educational Plans. IEPs record targets that the students have agreed on (and often come up with themselves) and hope to achieve. These targets and the student’s progress are then reviewed by meeting up to discuss feedback from teachers, parents and, of course, the students themselves.
How Can We Help You?
We can provide lots of information, resources and advice for teachers, parents and students, as well as ideas for different learning styles.
Where We Are
We are situated in the “bungalow” in the central open area of the college, between Design and the Sixth Form.
