Monika Bassi
From her love of English at Beauchamp to designing user‑friendly digital services, Monika is building an exciting career in UX and content design.Monika’s love for language and communication started early and grew throughout her time at Beauchamp College. She enjoyed a wide range of subjects at GCSE and A-level, but English Language, Maths, and Biology stood out. Her passion for language led her to study Linguistics at University College London (UCL), where being bilingual gave her a unique perspective on how languages shape the way we connect and communicate.
After university, Monika joined Capgemini through their graduate scheme and now works as a User Experience (UX) Designer. She designs and writes content for HMRC’s digital services, helping make complex systems clearer and more accessible for millions of users. Her role involves collaborating with designers, developers, and researchers, testing content with users, and mentoring junior colleagues. She also co-chairs a women’s network within the company, championing inclusion and representation in tech.
Monika credits Beauchamp College for creating a supportive and enjoyable learning environment. Encouraged by her teachers and peers, she achieved strong academic results without feeling overwhelmed—a balance that gave her confidence to pursue ambitious goals.
Alongside her current role, Monika is studying for a Master’s in Executive Leadership at Henley Business School. She hopes to move into content strategy and leadership, particularly in areas where design, accessibility, and emerging technologies like AI intersect.
Her career highlights include leading a project that improved access to government guidance and contributing to inclusion initiatives within Capgemini. Personally, she’s proud of being the first in her family to attend a top university and of building a career that reflects her values. Supporting others—especially those who may not see themselves represented in tech—is something she continues to prioritise.
Monika’s story shows how curiosity and creativity can open doors to exciting opportunities. It all began at Beauchamp College, where the encouragement and confidence she gained helped turn her passion for language into a career at the forefront of digital design.
