Beauchamp Students Represent School at International AI Event in Beijing

Students from Beauchamp College recently took part in a major international exchange event in Beijing, showcasing their interest in artificial intelligence and robotics on a global stage.

The event brought together students from across China and other countries to explore innovation in AI and quadruped robotics. Our students were invited to attend in recognition of the school’s strong work in promoting Mandarin and its growing focus on emerging technologies.

During the opening ceremony, several Beauchamp students were selected as flag bearers, reflecting the diversity of the school community. Representing not only the United Kingdom but also a range of cultural backgrounds, they played an important role in welcoming delegations from around the world.

Throughout the event, students took part in a range of hands‑on activities. These included watching quadruped robots complete obstacle courses, exploring artificial intelligence demonstrations and taking part in interactive sessions where humans and robots worked together. Students also experienced displays that combined technology with cultural elements, such as robots performing traditional movements, and had opportunities to share ideas with other young people interested in robotics and innovation.

Beauchamp staff were also involved in key moments during the visit, including participating in the official opening ceremony alongside international organisers and education leaders.

The visit was made possible through the work of our Mandarin department, whose strong links helped secure the invitation. It reflects Beauchamp College’s commitment to providing students with opportunities beyond the classroom and encouraging a global outlook.

The experience was a significant milestone for the students involved and highlights our continued focus on preparing young people for a rapidly changing world.
