Iconic Radio 4 show Comes to Beauchamp

At the end of September, BBC Radio 4’s renowned discussion programme, Any Questions?, was broadcast live from Beauchamp College.

Hosted by BBC Scotland Editor, James Cook, a panel of experts – including Labour peer Baroness Anderson, the International Development Minister, Andrew Mitchell and Liberal Democrats' Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Layla Moran – debated a hosted of political issues.

Amongst other topics, the group spoke about the environment, education and issues relating to healthcare. Mrs Boyd, Head of Politics and History at Beauchamp College, also posed a superb question to the panel, asking them how we, as a society, can move towards a culture of constructive and respectful debate.

The iconic show, which began in 1948, is transmitted every Friday evening from a different location within the country. Radio 4 receive a large volume of applications from venues wishing to host the event, therefore, Beauchamp’s selection was highly commendable and demonstrates the strong reputation the school holds.

The event also represented a fantastic opportunity for Beauchamp’s politics, media and history students to see elements of their learning applied to a ‘real-word’ scenario and they enjoyed what was a thoroughly insightful, interesting and illuminating evening.
