Students and Staff Support Local Charity With Clothing Donations

Students and staff at Beauchamp College have come together to support Open Hands Leicester, a local charity that helps people facing homelessness and hardship. We launched a clothing appeal in the run‑up to winter, encouraging the Beauchamp community to donate essential items for those most in need.

The appeal began with a brilliant student‑designed poster created by Year 11 pupil Rosie Shore, whose message encouraged everyone to think about how a small act of giving could make a big difference:

“As we enter this season of generosity and giving, please consider if you have any of the items listed that you could donate to Open Hands Leicester’s Essentials Hub who support people who are in urgent need of basic clothing, bedding, or household items.”

Donations were collected in the Student Support Centre, with students and staff contributing a large amount of clothing and other essentials. The collection was organised by Maths teacher Mr Cawley, and promoted by the Christian Conversations Society, an open group welcoming any student interested in exploring topics connected to Christianity.

On 17th January, the school’s premises team delivered all donated items to the Open Hands Essentials Hub in Leicester, where they were then distributed to vulnerable people across the city.

This campaign has been a wonderful example of the compassion and generosity within our school community, and we would like to thank everyone who contributed.
