Year 9s Make a Splash on Thrilling PGL Trip

Recently, the Year 9 students at Beauchamp College enjoyed a thrilling three-day PGL residential trip at the Caythorpe Court Centre in Grantham.

Having missed out on the annual trip in Year 7 – due to the COVID-19 pandemic – Beauchamp staff were determined to ensure that the 125 students had the same opportunity to take part in a range of exciting activities.

The three-day trip saw the students scale vast climbing walls – before abseiling back down – soar on the giant swing, hurl metal axes and partake in a game of archery tag.

The highlight for many, though, was the raft building. Despite the torrential rain, students remained positive, demonstrated fantastic teamwork, and were able to construct a raft capable of supporting them on the water.

It was all going swimmingly, until some creations started to fall apart – owing to strong rain and wind – leaving the students with no option but to jump overboard into the lake!

The evenings were spent boogying along to some disco classics, with staff and students given their time to shine on the dancefloor.

It was a wonderful three days and the students very much enjoyed the experience.
